Elliott is a wicket-keeper/batsman with a clean pair of hands that can bat up the top of the order. Elliott has a career average of 37 with a high score of 103*. Elliott played at Mackie Cricket Club from a young age debuting in the first grade (Longmuir Shield) in 2013, he played 32 first grade matches opening the batting and wicket-keeping. During the 2014/15 season Elliott had his breakout year where he made 302 runs at an average of 24, Elliott also took 22 catches and gathered a handy 6 stumping’s throughout the year. The following year (2015/16) Elliott unfortunately tore the ligament in his left ankle which dramatically effected his season. During early 2016 Elliott was recruited by South Caulfield as he searched for a better opportunity to develop his game and play at a higher standard. The current season Elliott has made 13 runs batting at number 10 and taken 8 catches wicket-keeping.
Elliott has usually opened the batting or batted high up the order during his playing career, currently he is batting lower as he aims to improve his game and adapt to the level of cricket he is playing at. Elliott’s strengths include being able to build an innings while also having the ability to bat explosively when needed, however he prefers two day cricket where he can take his time at the crease to build an innings. Elliott with his versatile height (181cm) can reach well from his body as a wicket-keeper and move his feet efficiently to cover large amounts of space.
Elliott has captained many teams since he was a junior giving him plenty of cricket knowledge, along with his wicket-keeping role Elliott is always thinking with his cricket brain how to set the right field and get the batsmen out. He is a natural leader around the club, always happy to help others or junior members out and set his time to helping others. Although Elliott has no coaching experience he has helped juniors out on Friday nights and Saturday mornings with wicket-keeping and batting skills. Growing up with younger siblings Elliott has adapted a leadership mentality and taken that to the cricket field.
Short term goal is to contribute to winning the regional T20 competition on the MCG and to win the Senior Division First Grade Grand Final in 2016/17. My goal long term is to work as hard as I can to try and get to the highest level that I can achieve. I want to work hard with coaches from England and Australia to try and learn as much about the game as I can while also having lots of fun enjoying what I love to do. I am also very excited to live in a new country and to explore England while also making lots of new lifelong friends.
