In 2012, while playing in the Sydney Grade competition he was selected for the NSW City U/21 merit side to play against the NSW Country U/21s.
Joel is currently playing cricket for the very strong Sutherland club in Sydney Grade competition alongside Phil Jacques, Stephen Smith, Nic Maddison to name a few and is currently playing all of his cricket in the first and second grade sides.
Joel is a top order batsman who likes to play his shots and has an aggressive approach to batting. He doesn’t like to watch the game stand still and prefers a game to be moving forward in a quick fashion. He is, however, able to adjust his game when things are not moving in the quick fashion that he prefers. Joel has played the majority of his cricket in the 2nd grade in recent years due to the strength of the 1st grade side and has been a standout performer during this time. During the 2011/12 season Joel was integral part of the Sutherland PG side that won the competition registering over 400 runs including a match winning 109 in the final against North Sydney. Joel has notched up 3 hundreds in the 2nd Grade team in the last couple of years, the hard hitting batsman registered a powerful 150 off 128 balls against strong Manly side at the start of the season. Joel has been a consistent performer this year and has scored over 500 runs already in the 1st/2nd grade and is staking his claim for a regular 1st grade place
Joel used to be a keeper although he has given that away in the last two seasons to concentrate on his batting. Joel is looking to come to the Uk for the 1st time and help take his cricket to the next level, he represents an exciting addition to any club. The powerful stroke maker is also a qualified coach and keen to get involved in the coaching structure at the club if the chance becomes available.
