Started playing competitive cricket at 11 and in that season made the Penrith Junior Cricket Association Representative teams. He played for this club at representative level until age 16. He played for Glenmore Park Cricket Club from U/11 to U/16. Ryan then decided he wanted to trial for grade cricket and is now playing 4th Grade as an opening bowler.
Ryan has stayed loyal to all clubs he has played for and is determined to improve his game wherever he plays. He is a typically consistent bowler which he uses to his advantage in 2-Day formats. However, he is also a handy short form bowler, with an ability to bowl cutters and slower balls which have helped him take wickets over the past few seasons. Ryan is a developing player however he knows his game very well. He is a reliable fielder and has worked on his fielding to become a very consistent fielder. He has a good eye for the game and is able to read the situation very well which improves his bowling and fielding.
Ryan is a handy batsmen who has typically batted lower order and has been able to stay around for several game changing partnerships. He has a 52 game winning run partnership in his first game of 4th Grade where he made 21. He also hung around and rotated the strike for a 58 run partnership last season where he made only 4.
Ryan has captained representative cricket teams as well as being a club captain at Glenmore Park Cricket Club. He is a natural leader and is known to be full spirited and a real character at Penrith Cricket Club.
At the start of this season, my goals were to play 3rd Grade at some point and to become a member of the Poidevin Gray Shield squad. However, after 3 rounds, I have achieved this. My new goals are to play the rest of this season in 3rd Grade and to be a regular team member and wicket taker in the Poidevin Gray shield team. I have never played overseas before but I want to try to play in England. I’m keen to learn from senior players and experience the difference between English and Australian cricket. I’m a hard worker and I want to improve as a player, however, I also want to experience English life.
